It's three losses in three games for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots now in this edition of the Caribbean Premier League. Their latest defeat to St. Lucia Zouks by 10 runs must sting the hardest, for even their bowling failed to live up to the expectations, conceding 172, the highest total in the tournament this year.

That Zouks got there despite opener Rahkeem Cornwall retiring five balls into his innings was down to Andre Fletcher (46 off 33) and Mark Deyal, who replaced Cornwall at the crease, pulled his first ball for six and finished with 30 off 17 balls, helping Zouks add 73 in only seven overs. It helped them neutralise a collapse of 4 for 20 in the middle overs before Mohammad Nabi walked in at No. 6, helped accumulate 32 runs in the final two overs, and finished the innings with a 22-ball 35*.

It wasn't the best day for Patriots fielding wise. Both Fletcher and Deyal enjoyed a bit of luck in Jon-Russ Jaggesar's opening over. Deyal was dropped on seven by Ben Dunk at slip while Fletcher got away on 21 when Kieran Powell misjudged a jump at deep midwicket, landing on the boundary rope and conceding a six. Fletcher was then dropped on 38 by Sohail Tanveer at backward point.

Nabi was at it even when Patriots came out to chase. He conceded only one run in the opening over and then sent back Chris Lynn in his second, although the wicket also belonged to Najibullah, who took a one-handed catch at backward square leg.

Roston Chase then took on the mantle from there, striking thrice in his continuous four-over spell that also included one in the powerplay. Scott Kuggeleijn, who had conceded 11 runs in his opening over inside the powerplay, then picked four wickets in his next three overs, most importantly taking out Denesh Ramdin (46 off 35) in the process.

Sheldon Cottrell had a bit of a hit towards the end, picking 26* off 11 balls but all it did was reduce the defeat margin. Zouks though still had done enough to hop over Trinbago Knight Riders on NRR and get to the top of the points table.

Brief ScoresSt. Lucia Zouks 172/6 in 20 overs (Andre Fletcher 46, Mohammad Nabi 35*; Jon-Russ Jaggesar 2029) beat St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots 162/8 in 20 overs (Denesh Ramdin 46; Scott Kuggeleijn 4-33, Roston Chase 3-12) by 10 runs
