Delhi

The 34th match of the IPL 2020 will be played between CSK and DC on 17th October at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST.

Both the teams met early in this tournament, only the 7th match of IPL 2020. The match was won convincingly by the Capitals by 44 runs. This one-sided affair caught many by surprise. And since then both the teams have seen contrasting results. DC are sitting at the second position of the points table, while CSK are at sixth.

In their last encounter, the approach to chasing totals adopted by CSK was under scanner. Chasing 176 set up by DC, CSK batsmen never looked in a hurry. Half of the batsmen were scoring under 100 SR. The other ones had SR of 120-130 range which was never going to be enouhg to chase 170s. But their game against SRH saw a different CSK, an aggressive CSK hungry for runs. MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja displayed some fine big hitting towards the end. Now that the match is at Sharjah, CSK would like to make the most out of the newly-adopted aggressive approach.

For DC, the injury of skipper Shreyas Iyer will be a major concern than winning the match. He was sitting in the dugout for the second innings in their match against RR. This was after he injured his shoulder. DC eventually won the match, but without Shreyas, the middle order will definitely hurt (given that RIshabh Pant is already injured).

We should expect a high scoring encounter at Sharjah. But we've lately seen the pitch slightly on the slower side. So also expect the unexpected.

Probable Playing XI

DC: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane/Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey/Shimron Hetmyer, Axar Patel, Kagiso Rabada, R Ashwin, Anrich Nortje, Tushar Deshpande

CSK: Faf du Plessis, Sam Curran, Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Kedar Jadhav/Piyush Chawla, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Karn Sharma
