by  Biswajit Majhi  •  Last updated on 2020-11-22 04:34:53

The 53rd match of the Women's Big Bash League 2020 will be played between Sydney Thunder Women and Hobart Hurricanes Women. The match is set to start at 4:00 AM IST and will be played at Drummoyne Oval, Sydney.

This will be the last league match for both Thunders and Hurricanes. Sydney Thunders would like to win the match and move up to 14 points and potentially to the second spot in the points table. Currently placed at 3rd, they're just 2 points behind Brisbane Heat Women. Hurricanes Women, on the other hand, are already out of the tournament with just 8 points from 12 matches.

Sydney Thunder Women will be entering the match with a win they secured against Adelaide Strikers Women, who are also battling for 2 points for playoff qualification. After opting to bowl first, Thunder Women did a good job of restricting Strikers Women to a score of 133 in their 20 overs. Sammy-Jo Johnson was the standout bowler for their side as she returned the figures of 4-0-25-3. In response, they chased it down comfortably in 19.4 overs. Captain Rachael Haynes played a brilling cameo of 30 off 23 to take her side home. This win was a big booster for their campaign after they marginally lost the Sydney derby against Sydney Sixers Women.

Hobart Hurricanes Women need to go back to the drawing board for next season as very few things went in their favor, if at all. They also lost their previous match against Melbourne Stars Women by a margin of 39 runs. So they'd like to end their campaign with a win.
