England will miss the services of Jofra Archer for the second Test against India in Chennai, starting Saturday (February 13), after the pacer took an injection in his right elbow following the discomfort he experienced in the series opener earlier this week.

The visitors though insisted that the issue "isn't related to any previous injury" and remain hopeful of having Archer back for the third Test, in Ahmedabad's new Sardar Patel Stadium.

"The issue is not related to any previous injury and it is hoped the treatment will allow the condition to settle down quickly, allowing the player to return to action in time for the third Test in Ahmedabad," the ECB said in a release on Thursday (February 11).

England are already without Jos Buttler for the remaining three Tests.

England won the first Test by 227 runs and lead the four-match series 1-0.
