SWOT Analysis

1) Royal Challengers Bangalore-

Strengths-

   •   A strong top-order comprising of Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and AB De Villiers

   •   The X-factor: Big Show(Glenn Maxwell)

   •   A plethora of swashbuckling domestic batsmen in Mohammed Azharuddeen, Rajat Patidar, Sachin Baby, Suyash Prabhudessai and Kona Srikar Bharat.

   •   New Zealand's latest sensation, Finn Allen is in red-hot form and would prove to be a game-changer for RCB.

   •   The spin duo of Yuzi Chahal and Washington Sundar would provide stability to the bowling lineup.

   •   Mohammed Siraj has been a revelation in recent months. He would be a lethal weapon with the new ball.

   •   Kyle Jamieson's all-round abilities would add to the depth.

   •   Excellent pace bowling all-rounders in Daniel Sams, Dan Christian and Harshal Patel.

Weaknesses-

   •   An inexperienced middle-order apart from Maxwell

   •   Acceleration in the middle-overs

   •   Tight spells in death overs

   •   A lack of collective team effort in crucial matches

Opportunities-

   •   Playing with more intent

   •   More accuracy in the pace bowling department

   •   A stable playing XI throughout the tournament unless changes are inevitable

Threats-

   •   A poor record against teams such as Mumbai Indians.

   •   Teams targeting their fifth and sixth bowling options.

   •   Maxwell might not justify his exorbitant price tag and perform okayish.

Universe

2) Mumbai Indians-

Strengths-

   •   An explosive opening combination of Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock

   •   The most dependable number 3 in the competition Suryakumar Yadav

   •   The best middle-order in the competition comprising of Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya

   •   Boult and Bumrah are two of the most lethal pace bowlers in the game.

   •   Excellent all-rounders in Hardik, Krunal and Pollard

   •   The bench strength is very skilful and potent

   •   A wide variety of bowlers who could adapt to any conditions and pitches.

   •   The most consistent team in the history of the IPL.

Weaknesses-

   •   A lack of quality spinners. Rahul Chahar might prove to be expensive many times.

   •   The backup options for Bumrah and Boult are not as potent as they are.

   •   Rohit and de Kock's perceived weaknesses against quality spinners in Powerplay overs.

   •   Too much reliance on Pandya brothers and Pollard for death overs.

Opportunities-

   •   Playing better on slow surfaces

   •   Finding spin backup options for Rahul Chahar

   •   Winning the first few matches in the tournament

Threats-

   •   When oppositions take Bumrah and Boult to the cleaners, Mumbai often concedes a lot of runs.
