1. Borussia Dortmund vs Bayer Leverkusen - Home to win @ 1.54 odds

(Germany. Bundesliga)

KO Time - May 22, 19:00 IST.

Analysis.

   •  There have been three or more goals scored in each of Dortmund’s last four matches in all competitions.

   •  Bayer Leverkusen have not scored in their last four Bundesliga away games.

   •  Both teams have scored in only five of Leverkusen’s 16 away league games to date.

   •  Bayer Leverkusen have not won against Borussia Dortmund in away games against them for the last 5 matches in the league. They really have not been travelling well at all.

Looking over their prior head-to-head clashes dating back to 21/04/2018 shows us that Borussia Dortmund have won 4 of them & Bayer Leverkusen 2, with the number of draws standing at 0. There were also goals galore in those games, with 29 overall which averages out at 4.83 goals per match.

The previous league meeting between these clubs was Bundesliga 1 match day 17 on 19/01/2021 which ended up with the score at Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 Borussia Dortmund. That time, Bayer Leverkusen managed 47% possession and 23 attempts on goal with 13 on target. Goals were scored by Moussa Diaby (14') and Florian Wirtz (80'). On the other side, Borussia Dortmund had 16 attempts at goal with 3 on target. Julian Brandt (67') was the scorer.

In our view, Bayer Leverkusen are certainly able to score a goal against this Borussia Dortmund team, but that may not be enough to avoid defeat.

We’re expecting a very close game with a 2-0  winning score for Borussia Dortmund by the conclusion of the game. Let’s see what eventuates.

2. VFL Wolfsburg vs Mainz 05 - Home to win @ 1.74 odds.

(Germany. Bundesliga)

KO Time - May 22, 19:00 IST.

Analysis.

   •  Mainz have not registered a win against VfL Wolfsburg when they have played them away from home in the previous 7 matches in the league. They'll be keen to stop this run.

   •  Both teams have scored in six of the last ten Bundesliga matches involving Wolfsburg.

   •  Both teams have scored in seven of the last nine Bundesliga matches involving Mainz.

   •  At least four goals have been scored in four of the last six Wolfsburg games

Olivier Glasner is widely expected to move on in the summer, despite leading Wolfsburg back to the Champions League via their highest Bundesliga finish in six seasons. The Austrian coach won’t be short of offers should the Wolves cast him aside with Julian Nagelsmann singing Glasner’s praises after last week’s 2-2 draw in Leipzig.

Wolfsburg next take on a Mainz side who showed signs of being ‘on the beach’, despite the torrential downpour that interrupted their 3-1 home defeat to Dortmund last weekend. Delving into their past head to head results stretching back to 23/02/2018 reveals that these fixtures have not been happy ones for Mainz. They have not managed to register any victories whatsoever whereas VfL Wolfsburg have maintained the edge over them, winning in 67% of those ties. A combined total of 12 goals were scored between them throughout the course of those matches, with 11 for Wolfsburg and 1 netted by Mainz. That’s an average goals per game figure of 2. The last league clash featuring these sides was Bundesliga 1 match day 17 on 19/01/2021 when the final score was Mainz 0-2 VfL Wolfsburg. In that game, Mainz managed 37% possession and 8 attempts on goal with 0 of them on target. For their opponents, VfL Wolfsburg got 9 attempts at goal with 2 of them on target. Bartosz Białek (65') and Wout Weghorst (79') scored.

It certainly seems that Mainz may well find it hard to find the net against a VfL Wolfsburg outfit who will most probably do really well if they play to their full potential. We’re therefore predicting a very comprehensive 3-1 margin for VfL Wolfsburg at the end of this one.

3. Bayern Munich vs Augsburg - Home to win and total under 5.5 goals. @ 1.8 odds.

(Germany. Bundesliga)

KO Time - May 22, 19:00 IST

Analysis.

   •  At least three goals were scored in 92% of Bayern’s home victories this season in the Bundesliga.

   •  Bayern have won six of their last ten games against Augsburg by two or more goals.

   •  Nine of the last 13 away Bundesliga defeats for Augsburg have been by exactly two goals.

   •  Bayern have kept only five home clean sheets from 16 league games to date.

Bayern will receive the Bundesliga Meisterschale after Saturday’s final game against Augsburg, but all the attention ahead of this one has been on whether Robert Lewandowski can break Gerd Muller’s 49-year-old scoring record. The prolific Pole tied Muller’s tally of 40 goals with a penalty in last week’s draw with Freiburg and has a golden opportunity to set his own mark against Markus Weinzierl’s men.

A study of past results between these clubs stretching back to 07/04/2018 reveals that these encounters have not been fruitful for Augsburg. They’ve not been able to get any victories at all while Bayern Munich have just been too good for them, beating them in 67% of those matches. An aggregate of 19 goals were shared by the two clubs throughout the course of those matches, with 13 for Bayern and 6 created by Augsburg. The average goals per game has been 3.17.

The previous league match featuring these clubs was Bundesliga 1 match day 17 on 20/01/2021 which ended up with the score at Augsburg 0-1 Bayern Munich. On that day, Augsburg had 36% possession and 9 shots on goal with 0 on target.

Bayern Munich got 13 attempts on goal with 4 on target. Robert Lewandowski (13') scored.

We’re of the opinion that Bayern Munich will probably convert a lot of goal-scoring opportunities. Conversely, Augsburg may well struggle to break down their defence but we can see them converting at least once as well.

Our tip is for a comfortable 3-1 win for Bayern Munich at the conclusion of the game.
