Analysis for the match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore certainly won’t want to enter the playoffs on the back of successive defeats and a positive response is expected from Virat Kohli and his team following that surprise loss over Sunrisers. These two sides are well matches in terms of personnel, but the better consistency of Delhi sees them in a better position in the table. However, should the Capitals rest any of their key stars it could well open the door here for RCB. Whilst waiting for confirmation of the two teams before making any moves is paramount, backing Royal Challengers Bangalore to come out is worth serious consideration.

Must see points.

1). Both teams have a very good bowling attack

2). RCB’s batting struggles continue and their dependence on Glenn Maxwell at the moment is a bit dangerous

3). DC has been more consistent than RCB and is a better team that is in great form

Avg first inning score: 148 runs (9 IPl matches have been played at the venue).

Records of chasing teams.

Won - 7

Lost - 2

Tied - 0

Match Prediction: RCB to win the match.

1). If RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first, DC could score 140-160 runs.

2). If DC won the toss and opted to bowl first, RCB could score 150-170 runs.

Post Toss.

1). If DC bat first, RCB will win the match.

2). If RCB bat, There will be 75-25 chances to win RCB.

Secondary Predictions.

1). Shikhar Dhawan total runs - over 21.5

Shikhar Dhawan top scored for Delhi Capitals in their win over CSK on Monday and he now has over 500 runs in the competition. Dhawan is our tip for Delhi’s highest run scorer in this final group stage game.

2). Glenn Maxwell total runs - over 21.5

Glenn Maxwell continued his impressive form in the UAE with 40 from 25 balls before being run-out on Wednesday. The score followed on from three successive half-centuries and he is our recommendation for RCB’s highest run scorer against Delhi Capitals.

3). Harshal Patel total wicket - Over 1.5

Harshal Patel has 29 dismissals in the tournament and is a reliable choice for RCB’s top wicket taker in this game. As he would be at his best we think.

Match Preview.

The 56th and final game of the 2021 Indian Premier League group stage sees the already qualified Royal Challengers Bangalore and table toppers Delhi Capitals meet at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. RCB are guaranteed to finish 3rd after missing an opportunity to finish higher by losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. A win for Delhi Capitals will secure top spot. The match begins at 19:30 local time.

A very poor batting effort from RCB caused it to lose against SRH in the previous match that it played. That was a shock defeat and shows the kind of variability in performance that RCB has shown in IPL 2021.

The fact is that RCB has struggled to get the most out of its batting lineup even after having so many resources at its disposal. Glenn Maxwell and Devdutt Padikkal are the only real batsmen that have shown some kind of form.

We expect AB de Villiers to be promoted in this match to give him some time in the middle as well. Glenn Maxwell looks like a good bet for the top batsman and Virat Kohli has an excellent record against DC too. Look for betting markets for both of them.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel are the leading bowlers for RCB and will pose the biggest threat to DC. Could there be a case for resting your best bowlers to not allow a future playoff competitor a chance to face them earlier?

Keep an eye on the playing eleven as that may have some surprises.

DC has been very consistent in IPL 2021 so far and it also may look to rest some players and give some of its bench a chance. We are not fans of DC playing just three overseas players as that upsets its balance and does not maximize the potential of the team.

Still, with Shikar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, and Rishab Pant in the top-order, DC can afford to tinker with its batting lineup a little. In terms of batting strength, DC may not have the brilliance and genius that RCB does but it still has a lot of consistency.

DC’s bowling attack is top-notch but this is where we expect a few changes. Amit Mishra could come into the side and some of the fast bowlers could be rested as well.
