RCB vs KKR, IPL Eliminator | Latest team News, Preview and Predictions.

Analysis for the match.

Of all the sides in this year’s IPL playoffs, it feels like Kolkata Knight Riders contain the most momentum when taking into account their recent form and performances ever since the tournament’s restart. Whilst captain Eoin Morgan has been short of runs, his leadership skills cannot be called into question and KKR have established themselves as an excellent unit from top to bottom. Royal Challengers Bangalore have proven more inconsistent and aside from the fantastic form of Glenn Maxwell, it has been a struggle for a number of their batters. Morgan’s men are expected to make the most of the pitch at Sharjah once again as they did against Rajasthan and provided that they can dismiss Maxwell for relatively little runs, then Kolkata Knight Riders look like the side set to advance in this eliminator, knocking RCB out of the competition and extending their long wait for Indian Premier League glory.

Must see Points.

1). KKR has a stronger bowling lineup with three world-class spinners and a brilliant death bowler

2). RCB’s batting is dangerous but we have seen it depend too much on Maxwell in recent times

3). KKR has adapted to conditions in the UAE brilliantly and we think their team will enjoy playing in Sharjah more than RCB

Avg first inning score: 137 runs (8 IPL matches have been Played at the venue).

Records of chasing teams.

Won - 5

Lost - 3

Tied - 0

Match Prediction: The team, to bat second to win the match.

1). If RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first, KKR could score 140-150 runs.

2). If KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first, RCB could score 135-145 runs.

Secondary Predictions.

1). Glenn Maxwell total runs - Over 18.5 runs.

Maxwell has been in tremendous form for RCB this season. He has scored 498 runs at an average of 45.27 and a strike rate of 147.34. He also has six fifties, the most in IPL 2021. To be able to get odds of nearly 5x on him is a great deal and one that is worth a punt for sure.

2). Total sixes in the match - Over 11.5

There were 11 sixes in the previous match even when Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for 85. There are many more prolific six-hitters playing this match and we think there is a good chance that we will see 12 or more sixes hit in the total match.

Match Preview.

RCB is once again in the IPL playoffs, for the second year running, and would be hoping to press for its first title. The biggest advantage that RCB has had in comparison to previous years has been the performances of its Indian players. Devdutt Padikkal, KS Bharat, and Shahbaz Ahmed have been instrumental in winning matches throughout the season.

This takes the pressure off of Virat Kohli, who is going through a prolonged lean run, and AB de Villiers, who has struggled to make an impact in the second half of IPL 2021. The highest scorer for Glenn Maxwell who is making a massive impact in almost every match that he plays.

The biggest strength is the six-hitting ability and the sheer genius that is present in the batting lineup. The danger has to be playing in slow and spin-friendly conditions where RCB has struggled in the past.

RCB’s bowling has been quite good as Yuzvendra Chahal has found form, Mohammad Siraj is doing well, and Harshal Patel is in the form of his life. RCB is not going to be easy to score against but we do think Chahal and Siraj could struggle against the KKR batting lineup.

Lockie Ferguson made a comeback into the team for KKR in its previous match and made an immediate impact. All eyes will be on Andre Russell as KKR moves into this knockout phase of IPL and there is a very good chance that he will be playing this match as well.

KKR is a team that has managed to turn things around quite spectacularly after a poor start. Like RCB, its Indian players have done very well. Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Venkatesh Iyer, and even Nitish Rana have all batted with purpose and managed to get to big totals.

Eoin Morgan, Shakib Al Hasan, and Sunil Narine add batting depth to the lineup. KKR should have enough power to get past RCB in most matches.

KKR’s spin-bowling attack is going to be its biggest strength in this match. Shakib Al Hasan, Sunil Narine, and Varun Chakravarthy will make scoring in the middle overs very tough. This is where the difference between winning and losing could be made.

Match details.

Time - Oct 11, 07:30 pm, IST.

Venue - Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.

Pitch conditions.

There is no threat of rain around but it will be very interesting to see how the pitch behaves. We saw 171 scored by KKR in the previous match played at Sharjah but the pitch was not significantly better than the ones we have seen there earlier. A slow surface where run-scoring is going to be difficult and the boundaries hard to come by is likely.

Eoin Morgan’s side went into the final round of group games knowing that there was a chance that Mumbai Indians could snatch 4th place with a net-run-rate swing. However, KKR then produced an excellent batting performance and showed they can deliver when the pressure is on.With two wins in a row and three wins from their last four games, KKR can no longer be dismissed as the inconsistent team in the competition.
