Analysis for the match.

For New Zealand here it may well be a case of ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’ having had such little time to reflect and recuperate following a draining T20 World Cup campaign. For them to jump straight back into action in a different country only three days later must be mentally and physically draining, so it would be no surprise if that is reflected in their performance here. India meanwhile, have a huge point to prove under the captaincy of Rohit, who will be desperate to get off to a winning start in his first match as the new permanent T20i skipper. With more time to prepare for this series, not to mention home advantage being in their favour, an India win in this first T20i of the series has to be favoured.

Must see points.

1). New Zealand has a well-settled team with players that seem to know their roles in T20 cricket better

2). India is usually very tough to beat in home conditions

3). New Zealand's bowling is very good and its batting may enjoy the surface in Jaipur as well

Match Predictions: New Zealand to win the match.

1). If India won the toss and opted to bowl first, New Zealand could score 170-190 runs.

2). If New Zealand won the toss and bowl first, India could score 160-180.runs.

Secondary Predictions.

1). Rohit Sharma total runs - over 24.5 runs.

Rohit Sharma has taken on the India T20 captaincy and ended the world cup in strong form with scores of 74, 30 and 56. He is our tip for India’s highest run scorer in this match.

2). Trent Boult Total wickets - over 1.5 wickets.

Trent Boult was arguably the standout bowler for New Zealand in the T20 World Cup. The speedster was on his mark throughout the tournament as he picked up 13 wickets from seven matches. In the match against India, he picked up three wickets for just 20 runs. Boult will now be looking to make early inroads into the Indian batting in the T20I series.

3). A fifty in the match - Yes.

This is our absolute favorite bet for this match. The odds are a bit low but the chances of you winning this are very high. The surface in Jaipur should be batting friendly with plenty of runs. Go big if you can to maximize your returns.

Match Preview.

India take on New Zealand in the first of three men’s T20 internationals on Wednesday evening in Jaipur. The hosts had a disappointing 2021 T20 World Cup when they were knocked out in the Super 12 stage. New Zealand reached the final but were beaten by Australia on Sunday. Read on as we preview this game. This opening game of the series begins at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium at 19:00 local time.

India is going to start a new chapter in its T20 International journey with this series. Rohit Sharma is the new captain and Virat Kohli is going to be missing the entire series. Also, Hardik Pandya, Rahul Chahar, and Varun Chakravarthy have been dropped.

India needs to build its team for the next T20 World Cup that is less than a year away. Rahul and Rohit will open the batting but maybe Ruturaj Gaikwad could get a chance as well. Shreyas Iyer, Rishab Pant, and Venkatesh Iyer are probably going to be in the middle-order.

From a betting point of view, you want to stick to the openers to make the biggest contributions in this match. That means choosing one of either KL Rahul or Rohit Sharma for the Top Batsman India betting market. One of the things that stood out was a lack of intent by the Indian batsmen in the early matches, including against New Zealand, and so the batsmen may go for more big hits this time.

The Total Sixes and Total Fours betting markets that you should definitely look for in this match.

Yuzvendra Chahal is back in the fold and he is the bowler we are picking for the Top Bowler betting market. He bowls slowly and goes for wickets but can also go for some runs in a few matches. His good form in the IPL could translate to the international matches as well.

Harshal Patel could not stop taking wickets with his slower deliveries in the IPL. Will that translate to the international circuit? We are not sure but he may be a good pick to bet on 'To Pick 2+ wickets' betting market.

New Zealand's team performed very well in the recently concluded T20 World Cup and it could quite easily continue that success against India in this series as well. No replacement has been named for Devon Conway and so we can expect more or less the same playing eleven that played the final. That means Martin Guptill, Daryll Mitchell, and Kane Williamson will be required to score the bulk of the runs once more.

There does seem to be a lack of depth in the batting lineup that could be exposed if the pitch is bowler-friendly. Glenn Phillips and Kane Williamson are the two batsmen that we are backing to score runs in this match. We think you will get some good odds on the Total runs Over/Under betting market for both the batsmen.

You can bet on the 'Over' as the Jaipur batting surface is generally quite good and should favor the batsmen that are comfortable facing spin.

Mitch Santner and Ish Sodhi have a great record against Indian batsmen. In fact, Sodhi has taken the most international wickets against the Indian batsmen out of all bowlers, a staggering statistic. Trent Boult, Adam Milne, and Tim Southee are going to extract any help that is on offer in this match as well.

New Zealand is a settled team with players that know their roles. The only thing against it is going to be exhaustion and burnout.

Match details.

Time - Nov 17th, 07:00 pm, IST.

Venue - Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

Pitch reports.

The pitch at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium is generally very good for batting. The outfield is small and there are a lot of big hits on offer. The pitch could be a bit better to bat on as the match goes on and the dew comes into play. Considering all of this, we think something around 180 should be considered as par for the venue.

Team News.

This is the start of a new era in white ball cricket for India under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. They will miss the likes of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah who have both been rested but may well use this as an opportunity to give debuts to Harshal Patel and Avash Khan during the series.India began the T20 World Cup with heavy defeats to Pakistan and New Zealand but played very good cricket in the subsequent games.

Possible XI - Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer/Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant (wk), Deepak Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravi Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel/Avesh Khan

Bench - Ruturaj Gaikwad, Venkatesh Iyer, Axar Patel/Shreyas Iyer, Harshal Patel/Avesh Khan, Mohammed Siraj

New Zealand>>

Trent Boult’s absence leaves a gaping hole in the New Zealand bowling attack. The left-arm quick registered figures of 2-18 in Sunday’s final. Kane Williamson will also be very hard to replace in the middle order. We expect to see Kyle Jamieson get the nod to replace Boult with his batting firepower an added bonus. There was not much to choose between the finalists on Sunday and New Zealand come into this series in fine form across all formats.

Possible XI - Martin Guptill, Daryl Mitchell, Tim Seifert, Glenn Phillips (WK), Mark Chapman, Mitchell Santner, James Neesham, Tim Southee (C), Lockie Ferguson/Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi, Trent Boult

Bench - Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne/Lockie Ferguson, Todd Astle
