Analysis for the match.
IPL 2022 has reached the all-important playoff stage and the first of those matches is the Eliminator between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. LSG finished third with 9 wins while RCB finished fourth with 8 wins and both of them can claim to have some of their best players in form coming into this match.
This is the first time that LSG is in the IPL and to have made the playoffs is quite commendable. RCB, on the other hand, has been here multiple times but has failed to win a title. Is this the year that they break the jinx?
The IPL betting sites are offering odds that are quite similar for both teams right now but RCB is the slight underdog.
Must see points.
1). LSG has a more dynamic T20 team that can adapt to different conditions and opponents
2). RCB has a very good bowling attack that has been instrumental in getting it to the playoffs
3). Gautam Gambhir in the LSG think tank is also an underrated strength to have
Head to Heads.
Overall Matches - 1
LSG won - 0
RCB won - 1
N/R - 0
Match Prediction: Chasing side to win the match.
1). If LSG won the toss and opted to bowl first, RCB could score 170-190 runs.
2). If RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first, LSG could score 160-180 runs.
Secondary Predictions.
1). KL Rahul total runs - over 24.5 runs.
KL Rahul has struck 537 runs in the tournament so far this year and he is well worth backing as Lucknow Super Giants’ highest run scorer in the Eliminator.
2). Glenn Maxwell to hit a six - Yes.
Glenn Maxwell hit two sixes from his 18 balls faced in his last match. He is an excellent big hitting batter and is our prediction for the Player to Hit The Most Sixes in this fixture.
3). Total sixes in the match - over 12.5
The reports suggest that the pitch being used for the match is going to be fast, bouncy, and full of runs. This means we should see a lot of sixes being hit and we think betting on Over 12.5 being scored in this match is the way to go.
Match Preview.
LSG showed just how good their opening batting lineup could be in the previous match as Quinton de Kock smashed 140 from 70 deliveries and KL Rahul remained not out with 68 as well.
While the partnership as a whole was great, KL Rahul did not really accelerate like he was expected to and as a result, the team just got to 210. Evin Lewis, Deepak Hooda, Manan Vohra, Marcus Stoinis, and Jason Holder formed the overseas players that played the previous match.
We think more or less the same team is going to line up for the Eliminator as well.
LSG’s batting lineup is tremendous with the Eden Gardens probably providing a fast, bounce, and excellent batting surface, a high-scoring match is expected. This means that from a betting point of view, we can look to bet on their batters to score some runs.
Evin Lewis and Deepak Hooda look quite attractive for some Over/Under bets.
The star of the bowling lineup for LSG has been Mohsin Khan. He has now been chosen in the Indian team and that will fill him with confidence as well. With left-arm pacers a particular challenge for the RCB top order, Khan could be a great choice to bet on in this contest.
Runs for Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell in the must-win match against the Gujarat Titans would have made RCB feel much better going into the playoffs. They have now won three out of their previous four matches and have momentum on their side.
RCB’s batting has been struggling in IPL 2022 because of its top-order struggles. If that is solved then RCB starts to look like a very dangerous team. We, however, are not jumping on the RCB bandwagon just yet.
Virat Kohli may have scored runs in the previous match but whether that will unlock the Kohli of old is yet to be seen. He and Faf du Plessis at the top of the order can be quite traditional as an opening pair and eat up a lot of deliveries at the top.
The danger players are probably going to be Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar with Dinesh Karthik coming in for the finishing kick.
