West Indies Women

After failing to impress in ODI setup, West Indies Women will challenge their counterpart New Zealand Women for a five-match T20I series kicking-off on Wednesday. The hosts succumbed to back-to-back defeats in first two ODIs, but made a heroic comeback to ward-off imminent whitewash. In 3rd ODI, West Indies chased the easy target of 169 runs by gaining a four-wicket win. Hayley Mathews led the chase and scored a composed 40 runs off 70 balls.

West Indies will be eager to further stretch their momentum and seize the crucial inaugural win in Wednesday’s game. Most of the ODI players have retained their places for T20I series and need to exhibit an improved show. Stafanie Taylor roared in the last game with her unbeaten knock of 51 runs and her experience will be vital in T20Is. Skipper Hayley Mathews needs to perform well with the ball while Karishma Ramharack and Afy Fletcher need to hop-on their ODI form.

New Zealand Women

Taking forward ODI winning legacy, New Zealand Women will be pumped-up to exhibit a dominant show in T20I series as well. Sophie Devine-led team carries enough depth in their squad and will be an obvious threat for the home side. New Zealand bowlers and batters are now familiar with conditions in Antigua and exciting rivalry is on the cards. Kiwi batters Maddy Green and Lauren Down were the standout players in the ODI series and are expected to keep pace with the gained momentum.

Despite the unfortunate defeat in the final ODI, New Zealand Women carries an upper hand in the T20I series. They were recently upgraded to third rank in Women T20I rankings and will launch into Wednesday’s game as undisputed favorites. New Zealand players including Sophie Devine, Suize Bates and Amelia Kerr are looking good with the bat and are expected to excel in T20Is. On bowling front, Jess Kerr has been standout bowler for Blackcaps with five wickets in just two games while carrying economy of 3.62.

Topbets Prediction

With four wins in the last five games, New Zealand Women leads the head-to-head chart against West Indies. They look more balanced and have several match winners with bat as well as with ball. On the other hand, West Indies is yet to win a game against the visiting side in the shortest cricket format. They have enjoyed the T20I format but too much dependency on top order could work against them. Expect New Zealand to make a winning start.
