Sydney Thunder will throw away a gripping challenge for Hobart Hurricanes Women in the second game of the eighth BBL edition. The two times champions have won eight of their last nine games against Hobart Hurricanes and will be eager to hold the lead. Sydney Thunder will be led by Rachael Haynes for the WBBL 2022. Several new faces including Tammy Beaumont, Sammy-Jo Johnson and Belinda Vakarewa have been roped-in to the Thunder’s camp and will be clinical to their success.

Sydney Thunder will be looking forward to making a winning start. The Thunder camp has recruited smartly, and veteran English batters Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones will bolster their batting excellence. Skipper Rachael Haynes will add the needed experience, and competing in her last competition, Rachael will be highly motivated to hang her shoes by seizing the prestigious trophy. On the bowling front, Lauren Smith and Samantha Bates will monitor Sydney Thunder’s bowling attack.    

Hobart Hurricanes Women

Hobart Hurricanes had a poor outing last season, as they finished the nightmarish season by winning just four games and settling for sixth spot at the points-table. Hobart Hurricanes have also opted for a new skipper, and Elyse Villani will be their new boss who would definitely aim to kickoff her stint with a win. They have an exciting bunch of new players, and will carry the confidence in Friday’s game. Heather Graham and Hayler Silver-Holmes also join ‘the Canes’ from Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers respectively.  

Hobart Hurricanes know their formidable record against Sydney Thunder and will be a bit cautious in their first game. Ruth Johnston and Lizelle Lee will be the opening pair for Hurricanes, and they need to explore acceleration options in the power-play overs. In the middle order, Mignon du Preez, Naomi Stalenberg and Nicola Carey will add depth to the Hurricanes batting line-up. Molly Strano and Heather Graham shall aim to add quick runs down the order for the team.
