Brisbane Heat Women
Brisbane Heat will take a toll against Melbourne Renegades in the ninth group stage fixture of Women’s Big Bash League 2022 at the Harrup Park in Mackay. Brisbane Heat had a bumpy start, as they lost their opening clash against Sydney Sixers. However, they recouped their winning ways with a hard-fought win against Melbourne Stars. Batting first in the game, Brisbane Heat goes on a rampage while scoring 179 runs in 20 overs and later break-off Stars’ eight runs short.
Brisbane Heat got a handsome win in the last game and will definitely aim to back the gained momentum. Team’s seniors played exceptionally well in the last game, and Ellie Johnston, Georgia Voll and Georgia Redmayne will be the key to Brisbane’s success in Tuesday’s clash. In the bowling department, the likes of Jess Kerr, Courtney Sippel, and Nicola Hancock need to provide timely breakthroughs. Jess Jonassen claimed a three-wicket haul in Brisbane’s last game at Harrup Park and will be a threat for Renegades batters.
Melbourne Renegades Women
Melbourne Renegades got off to a winning start, as they seized the low-scorer thriller against Adelaide Strikers. With their win, Renegades raced to third spot in the points-table and would be aspiring to remain intact amongst the top four teams. Bowling first in the game, Renegades skipper Sophie Molineux rattled Adelaide’s batting with a four-wicket haul that restricted them at 127 for 7. Molineux then led the chase being the top scorer with 32 runs off 35 balls and saved the day for the Renegades.
Melbourne Renegades will be wishing to maintain their positive approach with both bat and ball in Tuesday’s game. However, the visible threat is that Renegades is ending-up being over-reliant on skipper Molineux and other players should step-up their game. In the batting department, the likes of Hayley Mathews, Josephine Dooley and Evelyn Jones should look forward to accelerating the scoreboard in the middle overs. On the bowling front, the onus of striking wicket at equal intervals will be on Sophie Molineux, Hayley Mathews, Shabnim Ismail, Georgia Prestwidge and Sarah Coyle
Both teams are coming-off with a fine win in their respective last games, and will be aiming to reap on the gained momentum. Based on current form, Brisbane Heat women will be slight favorites to win their game against Melbourne Renegades. With the likes of Ellie Johnson, Georgia Voll and Georgia Redmayne showing excellent form in the previous match, the team management will be hoping for more of the same in this fixture.
