On January 27, the first T20I match between India (IND) and New Zealand (NZ) will take place at Ranchi's JSCA International Stadium Complex. India, who outplayed New Zealand in all three of their one-day international matches, is the clear favorite to win the forthcoming match as well.
Indian team has rested Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma while KL Rahul and Axar Patel are also missing this series. Tim Southee, Trent Boult, and Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, are also absent. While Ben Lister is a new addition to the team, Mitchell Santner currently serves as its captain. In Rohit Sharma's absence, Hardik Pandya will serve as India's captain. One of the series Hardik has already led the Men in Blue was last year's match with New Zealand. Although the team he has at his disposal is young, talent is not lacking.
Prithvi Shaw, who hasn't worn the national colors since July 2021, will be trying to make a point. Suryakumar Yadav, who won the ICC T20 Player of the Year award in 2022, will be heavily relied upon. In earlier this month's series against Sri Lanka, Shivam Mavi excelled.
Mavi has shown his ability to play huge shots and that he is not weak with the bat. The most seasoned fast bowler, Arshdeep Singh, will be needed both with the new ball and in the finishing stages of the match. Yuzvendra Chahal or Kuldeep Yadav, any one of them is most likely to perform.
Kane Williamson and Tim Southee will not be present for the series, therefore Mitchell Santner will lead New Zealand. In the ODI series, Devon Conway and Michael Bracewell both hit hundreds, in the 20-over format, they must continue where they left off.
Match Prediction
India is the favorites in this series as they have done a good job at ODIs against New Zealand. Even though some of the star players are rested, the other team members can pull the match in their favor.
