Recently, I was watching India vs Australia warm-up match and was shocked to seez Indian skipper Virat Kohli taking the bowling duties in the middle overs. Can anyone explain the whole idea behind giving Virat Kohli ball? Is India experimenting introduction of sixth bowling option in T20 World Cup?

“Myself, Virat, Surya. We’ll all bowl and see if we can chip in with a sixth option. Even if we play with five bowlers, we’ve got the quality. The sixth bowler just gives you an extra option in case someone is having a bad day,” Captain Rohit Sharma asserted

Someone has to compensate for Hardik Pandya not bowling for India. Previously, Skippers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have done a decent job with the ball. Rohit has an IPL Hat-trick in his name and Virat Kohli was India's highest-ranked all-rounder in T20 Internationals.

On a serious note, Virat Kohli was bowling just for fun just to have some practice to deliver a couple of overs if the team demands. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya not bowling is a concern for India because if he doesn't bowl the balance that Virat Kohli aims for, he will simply never get it.

"Hardik is coming along pretty well, but it'll be a while before he starts to bowl. He hasn't started bowling, but he should be ready any time during the tournament. In a big tournament like this, you always want to make sure that a player is 100% fit. Hopefully, he will start bowling soon — Rohit Sharma
