The T20 World Cup 2021 concluded recently with Australia getting the trophy for the first time in the history and proving that they are not over in cricket. And many of the cricket fans were surprised when Player of the Tournament award was offered to David Warner for having 289 runs in the tournament rather than Babar Azam who had 303 runs. There was a difference of just 14 runs, but most Pakistani cricketers wanted this to be offered to Babar Azam. However, the award was decided by the commentator panel from the tournament and they went in favor of David Warner who helped the team in winning the tournament.

And I completely agree with them because the condition in which David Warner was at the start of the tournament, no one ever expected him to do so well except for the Australian captain and team management. He was thrown out of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team due to lack of form, removed from captaincy and was not expected to rather play the tournament. However, not only did he score the second highest runs in the tournament but also helped the team win the tournament. So the Player of the match award should go to someone who contributed enough to win the tournament and not just lead the team to semifinals. There was a difference of just 14 runs, not much.
