While Royal Challengers Bangalore has already made up its mind to retain a player like Glenn Maxwell, there are lots of chances that he could be the captain of the team in the upcoming season of IPL. However, as per the Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan, Glenn Maxwell should not be chosen as the captain of the team because he is a free-flowing player and does the best when he is devoid of any responsibilities. So Glenn Maxwell should not be made the captain of the team and RCB should look for someone different.
Personally, I believe that the performance of Glenn Maxwell have nothing to do with captaincy or pressure and even devoid of pressure, he can stay as quiet as any average player. Glenn Maxwell took Kings XI Punjab to IPL finals in 2014 and since then, he was quite for the same team till 2020. In 2020, despite not being the captain, he could not hit even a single six. And then he came to RCB in 2021 and was good in his performances. However, his performances were not good enough to render RCB anything better in 2021, than what it attained in 2020. So relying on the batting of Glenn Maxwell is not a good idea because he is not at all a reliable player. He performs good only when he is in form and rest of the time, Glenn Maxwell would appear a waste of money to the team.
