A person ought to be nervous when he is playing in the Qualifier match of as big of a tournament as the IPL, all that while facing the nail-biting scenario of 16 runs required off the last 6 balls. Guess what—Miller snatched the match from RR’s hands, smashing 3 back-to-back sixes and sealing the deal with 3 balls remaining!
He, along with Rashid Khan and Hardik Pandya, led Gujarat Titans to their first-ever IPL final—that too in their first IPL season itself. In a post-match interview with Shubman Gill, Miller said this:
“To be honest, I was just a little nervous. However, Hardik insisted on playing good cricket smashes and striking the space. He wasn’t sprinting too quickly, as you can see, but I like to make runs between the wickets. However, because the outfield was fast, striking the gaps was the greatest option.
It’s an incredible feeling; I’ve been playing IPL for 12 years and this is my second time qualifying.
To be honest, it doesn’t happen often, but being in the final feels unique, and leading the boys over the finish line felt cool. When you consider all of the individual contributions, this is a fantastic team effort.”
