Dilip Vengasker has recently slammed Indian selectors for not having Sarfaraz Khan in the Test team. Is his complaint justified even after seeing his below par level of performance in IPL 2022 even after given several chances?

Dilip Vengsarkar, the veteran ex-cricketer of Indian slammed the Indian selectors for not having the young Sarfaraz Khan in the Indian test team. He said that Sarfaraz should have been there in the Indian team now because he has been consistently scoring over 800 runs every year for Mumbai and he cannot do anything more to get into the team. However, while Dilip Vengsarkar is right about it, I think he should also look at the conditions. For BCCI, the only platform for selection of players in every form of cricket is IPL and if you do well in the IPL, you will get selected in the team. Your other domestic performances do not matter.

Besides, if Sarfaraz Khan is to be added to the test team, he would have to replace a very veteran batsman in the team. He cannot replace KL Rahul, Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma and not even Cheteshwar Pujara. The only options left are Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari and Shreyas Iyer, if they are there in the team. So it’s not about just the BCCI not willing to have players but also about whether the players have a chance amidst the competition. They cannot keep on changing players in the team every series.
