Every Sport changes the way it is played as years pass by. Cricket too changed a lot over the years. Here are a few things that have changed in cricket :

    Orthodox Batsman vs Unorthodox Batsman

Cricketers before the advent of T20 cricket used to play orthodox cricket. Even big hitters like Sehwag , Jayasuriya etc used to mostly play orthodox cricketing shots. An off side pitched ball going for a leg side six was a very rare thing and reverse stance kind of shots were unseen.

Today's cricketers like Rishabh pant, Maxwell etc play a lot of Unorthodox shots too. This kind of batting was very rare in cricket before the advent of T20 cricket.

    Swing bowling

There is a reason why Wasim Akram was called as “Sultan of Swing”and today's bowlers are not. ODI cricket until mid 2000’s was played only with one ball per innings, hence the ball used to reverse swing after 30+ overs. In today's era such thing doesn't happen because of 2 new balls per innings. The likes of Wasim, Wakar, Zaheer etc used to swing the ball miles and that made a great sight for audience to look.

    Changes

There is a reason why 2000’s was considered as golden era of Indian cricket despite the current cricket team performing better than them : Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly, Sehwag played for over 12+ years together in test cricket and the first 3 almost played 16+ years of test cricket together. They were the core batting line up. Harbhajan, Kumble played together for many years(12+years) and no other spinner during their time replaced them . Likes of Sachin, Sehwag, Ganguly, Laxman, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Kumble, Harbhajan, Zaheer formed the core for many years.

    Bowlers were match winners too

Courtney Walsh in 1993 picked up 7 wickets and conceded only 1 run and in between those 7 wickets in a test match. He also did a similar thing against Srilanka by picking 5 wickets and just conceding 1 run . Those days a bowler bowling 10 overs in ODIS and conceding just 20–25 runs wasn't a surprise but today such kind of bowling figures have become rare.

Those days with 50 runs required and 5 wickets remaining the match is still not done and dusted but today you know that it is very easily chaseble.
