Well, Suryakumar Yadav is at the second spot in the ICC T20 rankings at the moment and he is just 2 rating points away from Babar Azam who is at the top. He has a couple of matches against West Indies to achieve the top spot and establish some distance from Babar Azam to stay at the top for quite some time. So achieving that top spot for Suryakumar Yadav is not difficult at all at this stage. The next T20 matches for Babar Azam are only in the Asia Cup in August and then Pakistan has a long T20 series against England where Babar Azam will have a chance to regain his ranking.
However, with the kind of form Suryakumar Yadav is in at the moment, I think this race will continue for quite some time now. But rankings do not really matter because if a player is playing consistently and winning matches for the team, this is far more important than getting the top ICC rankings. Suryakumar Yadav definitely has the potential to stay at the top in the ICC ODI and T20 rankings and hence it will not be a difficult job for him to be the top batsman in the world.
