    Are you serious?

Yes they did win against Pakistan but “giant team in the making” is an over over estimation.

Honestly, it was Pakistan’s game to lose and they did. They batted horribly.

Zimbabwe still has a long way to go if they want to challenge big teams consistently.

Honestly, I feel that their fielding standards have deteriorated in comparison to the Zim team of the 90s and 2000s, who were a very athletic & committed bunch.

In fact, they would do well to reach the standards of that Zimbabwe team first, who were a fighting unit led well by Heath Streak.

They were tigers in the field and used to hold their catches well. They used to play as a team and had one of two exceptional world-class players like Andy Flower and Neil Johnson, besides Streak himself.

They took a lot of pride in representing Zimbabwe.

Their performance in the 1999 world cup was actually a performance worthy of a “giant team in the making” as they comprehensively beat some big sides like India & South Africa and made Australia run for their money in the Super-six round.

That team was shaping up very well but unfortunately, it was not to be for them because of major political problems back home.

This team has lot of areas of improvement but especially in their catching & fielding. They dropped some sitters even in today’s game against Bangladesh.

Although I hope and wish that Zimbabwe once again becomes a force to reckon with and gives stiff competition to the big teams like in the late 90s and early 2000s, they are not quite there yet.
